New version has a trapezoidal screw.. Shouldn't be an issue.

Btw, thanks for explaining filament weighing in the other thread, helped me decide on temp purchase of a da vinci 3d printer.

warning with da vinci!!!! not everything which have name 3D printer is a 3D printer, XYZPrinter have problem even with printing square, holes are eggs, kind of bad quality ABS abandoned by reprap community years ago, enclosure do not help with shrinkage and even 3cm square looks as banana, 0.2 layer looks 0.8mm

my friend want to throw his XYZPrinter to trash or donate to school

Thanks! U could well be right, in about a few days I'll be able to confirm this or say its ok for the price. Going into it with low expectations. There's also quite a few users reporting DOA printers.

Can someone tell me why they have replaced the ball screw with a lead screw.
I think a ball screw is much better. Or is dirt/dust the reason why they changed it. Or is it pure price.

They were having problems with the motor coupler breaking if things weren't perfectly aligned.

Pilou, for dodecahedron, you should try with more fan, 80 or 100 % as it's a small model and it needs to stick very quickly between layers

Hi Pilou,

I was looking at the torture test you printed and was wondering how this compares with other printers such as the Makerbot Replicator 2.

I thought it might look a little smoother!

I've just ordered a Zortrax printer instead of a Makerbot replicator 2 and I'm hoping I've made the right choice.

Thanks,

Jason
